Line 6 Relay G30

August 13, 2015

I have been using my Line 6 Relay 30 for over a year.  I purchased it at Sweetwater to use with my Flamenco Guitars.  At this time I’m using it with my JDZ guitar outfitted with the LR Baggs Dual Source and CĂłrdoba F7 Paco with a Fishnan Presus Blend.  Both are a two source a UST and Mic that are blended.  With the Line 6 I can be free of the wires and walk around.  I get a great sound and pick up the percussive techniques in the Flamenco style especially the glopes.   I use the G30 with a Grace Felix Preamp or direct to a QSC Touch Mix 8.  It’s a great inexpensive system. 😎

Grace Designs Felix “Tames RMC Gold & Poly-Drive II”

July 12, 2015

I think I’ve rekindled my affection towards my DeVoe Blanca with RMC-Pickups & Poly-Drive II, DPA-4099G, and Grace Designs Felix PreAmp. The Grace Designs Felix Preamp was able to tame some of the piezo quack that drove me nuts and with the DPA blended in I can get very natural tone and loud without feedback.

A few folks who read my blog and follow me hear or on FB have asked what I use and like.  When you demand the best out of your instrument and gear you try so many things and it can be a long never ending journey.  For me it’s taken some years.  I would like to say I’ve found what works for me and let’s me play what I hear and feel.  My Luithier & guitar of choice is the Jorge De Zofia Cedar Top Blanca.  I like her more than other guitars I own.  This is for live use.  I hope to be getting a Negra soon (hint hint Jorge) from there if you play loud or need to be amplified there is only one choice.  I really like my DPA 4099g and Grace Felix Preamp. I have to thank a few folks before I can even mention the system.  Thank you  Al Marconi, Jason McGuire for telling me about the LR Baggs Dual Source Elemnt and mic.  Gerald Rohm who has been so kind. He’s a mechanical genius who has invented a fantastic tool for getting saddles perfectly flat to work wonderfully with pickups.  He also designed a fantastic cable for use with the system that takes a TRS Jack and then splits the cable to two TS jacks.   It’s the best sounding cable I’ve ever used.  I use the D’Addario EJ25B and EJ45C strings.  Thank you Yannaki Arrizza for getting me to try new stings😎.  Finally everything usually goes to my QSC TouchMix8 and QSC K10’s or Bose L1S and ToneMatch mixer.  Thanks to Arturo Romay, Taz Sellers, John Gilliat  for sharing techniques on amplification and how to use this gear and sound great.  There’s no way I would have the sound I do with out the help and people above who have a passion and desire for perfection, who have shared what they know.  Thank you Victor

New Rack

August 27, 2013

So my live rack is complete. I start with my Lester DeVoe Blanca outfitted with RMC Pickups or A Miguel Rodriquez guitar with Fishman Prefix Premium Blend Preamp. On the DeVoe I use a Bartlett Audio Guitar Mic B. Both guitars then go to the Rane MP13 preamp. The RMC pickups do go though a RMC Poly Drive II. The Poly Drive II spits signal pickup and signal for Roland GI 20 that is hooked up via MIDI to a Roland XV2020 Synth. Then out to a channel on Mackie 802VLZ. (Back to Guitar) the pickup is run to Rane AP13 as well as the Barlett Mic they also then get run through DBX 266XL Compression Gate/Exp and then to the Mackie 802VLZ on channel 2&3. For affects I am using the Lexicon MX300 with pre set #7 or #1 then mixer goes out to two QSC K10’s

Flamenco

September 14, 2012

“To be Flamenco is to have another skin, other passions, other desires. It is a different way of seeing the world, with music in one’s nerves, a fierce pride, happiness mingled with tears; it is a loathing of routine and sameness; it is to be intoxicated in song, wine, and kisses. It is the translation of life into an art of caprices and freedom.” – Tomas Borras
