Ultra Portable and Battery Powered Rig.

May 15, 2018

I have for a long time wanted to be able to have a very easy and portable rig that sounds fantastic. It would be able to accommodate using a mixer as well as my DPA 4099G microphone. For me to be able to play outdoor weddings or outdoor events with an easy set up and no need for AC is a must. I’m so glad that this year Bose came out with the S1 Pro. I i’ve been using the S1pro for the last six months with no issues and I’m very happy with it (them I have 2) however to play things in stereo I needed a mixer and I’m glad that Behringer has a battery powered stereo mixer with phantom power. The Behringer Xenyx 1002B. The mixer when using phantom power needs 3 9 V batteries but if you’re only running the mixer without phantom power 2 9 V batteries. And then using my DPA 4099 microphone I use the Sennheiser G3 wireless we’re both the transmitter and receiver run on two AA batteries. All my batteries are rechargeable from batteries on the Bose to the batteries on the Behringer and the Sennheiser wireless system for my paddleboard I have a pedal train volto 2 battery that powers my LR bags Align Series EQ, Reverb, DI, TC Electronic Spark Booster & Looper & Line 6G30 Wireless.

Sennheiser ew 100p G3 Wirelessly

November 27, 2017

So I’ve tried a few wireless systems out from Sennheiser, Shure, and Line 6. I’ve decided for my purpose which is to be used with the DPA 4099g mic on flamenco guitar I like the Sennheiser ew 100p G3 best. The ease of use TONE and options make it my solution. It so easy to use just turn them on, use a YPA or DPA Sennheiser micro dot adapter to the DPA and plug it in to the transmitter. On the receiver end you can just run it to a XLR input. I use my Bose L1 ToneMatch or a Radial Voco Loco preamp. My DPA and Sennheiser System fit into a nice small case from SKG. Wireless Set up for Flamenco Guitar

November 8, 2017

I just completed my wireless set up for my Andy Culpepper Flamenco Blanca using DPA 4099g Mic with a YPA Sennheiser adapter to the Sennheiser EWD1 Transmitter to the Sennheiser ewD1 Digital Receiver. It then goes to a Radial Engineering Voco-Loco Preamp with eq and effects loop including KoKKoSpace Reverb and DigiTech Jam Man SoloXT looper .  I used the Boss Pedalboard Cable Kit 6 Connectors purchased from Prymaxevintage in NJ eBay too or Prymaxe. Cory F and Steve were great. They have great service.  It all now looks and sounds great to the Bose L1, or speakers.

GSI Strings Guitar Solo SanFrancisco CA

August 31, 2017

**Update** 9/7/17 The GSI strings seemed to get a bit like harder tension strings so I went back to DÁddarío EXP45 strings.

I have always liked GSI and their strings.  I wanted to try their Super Treble Medium Tension strings on my Andy Culpepper # 83 Flamenco Spuce top Blanca.   They sound and feel great, intonation is perfect. I ordered a bunch today.  For me the high Tension strings like those in D’Addario EJ46 & EXP46 were to hard on my left hand and stiffened the tops flexing and overall tone.  My string scale length on this guitar is 658mm.   What GSP says on their web page “Our own custom made classical guitar strings, are wound on a very unique multifilament nylon core. We were the first to market our unique nylon Super and Ultra Trebles – now used by several of the major brand string makers. We now have Super and Ultra Hybrid Trebles – a little brighter and more powerful than the Supers and Ultras. Quality of sound and production, and consistency are what guitarists have come to expect from GSP Strings.” GSP Webpage
