DAddario EJ25 on Bass and EJ49 on treble are my preferred strings on Yamaha NCX3 Guitar

Changed out treble strings on the DAddario EJ25C to the trebles found on the EJ49 (black nylon) same diameter and tension as the EJ45 nylon (clear) and the BNN-3T seem to sound much better acoustically and through the pickup to my ears. Much warmer.

For live playing I have come to rely and trust the Grace Design Felix2 for my nylon playing. I have the LR Baggs Dual Source Element and mic system in Chanel 2 and a DPA 4099 G in Chanel one. I use a Peterson Tuner and for reverb the LR Baggs Align Reverb. It’s all mounted on a Daddario Pedalboard.

Daddario EJ45C

I have been using Daddario strings since I started playing on nylon strings over 20 years ago. In 2019 I spent the year trying various brands. Many are well known. After a year I have decided I just like the feel, tone, stability and intonation as well as the value of the Daddario EJ45C both on my DeVoe Negra and Culpepper Blanca.

The Compact and lightweight travel system is completed. It begins with the Andy Culpepper Flamenco Blanca with the LR Baggs Dual Source Pick Up going to the pedalboard by CNZ Audio and powered by Pedaltrain’s Volto 2. The pedals are the Line 6 G30 (Underneath) LR Baggs Align Series Equalizer, Reverb, TC Electronic Spark & Ditto, LR Baggs Active DI. Then XLR Out to the Bose S1 Pro PA.

D’Addario EJ45, D’Addario EJ50 Trebles & D’Addario EJ45C G string

So after trying various strings for about six months on the Andy Culpepper #83 Spruce Blanca I’ve decided on Medium Tension strings from DAddario the EJ45, EXP45, EJ45C (Only Coffee Colored G String) and EJ49 or EJ50 Black trebles. My preferred choice is the EJ45 with the Composite G.

DÁddario EJ45 Strings

For the string of choice on my 2017 Andy Culpepper #83 Flamenco Blanca Spruce Top and Alaskan Cypres Sides they are none other than the DÁddario EJ45 Strings.   I have tried a few brands and tensions from 79.00lbs – 95.00lbs from DAddario, Labella, Hanabach, Galli, Luthier, Guitar Solo in San Francisco and I came back to the tone and feel of the EJ45 set. 

2017 Andy Culpepper 1951 Marcelo Barbero ex Sabicas build 5 Fan Brace kind of 7.

Some folks have asked about my recent  AC Blanca/Spruce build.  It’s similar in build and design to a 1951 Marcelo Barbero ex Sabicas guitar.  It’s a five fan brace with two smaller outer braces.  See below

The neck is 2mm wider at the nut thand the standard 52mm this build is at 54mm and a 658mm scale lenght.  I wanted to try tuners instead of flamenco pegs.

For guitar strings I have tried various sets from Daddario, LaBella, Guitar Solo, Luthier, Hanabach, Salverez and I’ve come to prefer Daddario EJ45. 

I also asked Andy to make a sound port on the guitar so I can hear a bit more when playing without monitors or amplification.

I also am using a Daddario small NS micro Tuner

For a pickup amplification system I chose the L.R. Baggs Dual Source (Element & Mic)

 

When I’m playing out I use the Grace Design AliX to a Bose L1 system. 

DÁddario Pro Arté EJ45C

It’s been a few years since I’ve used EJ45C’s on a guitar and what a treat on my JDZ Cedar Blanca flamenco guitar.  Warm, silky and easy on the hands with great tone.  I am using the coffee colored G composite string.  83.74lbs of tension.  

DÁddario ProArté EJ25B

For the winter I noticed I needed a bit brighter string so I chose the DÁddario ProArté EJ25B for my JDZ Cedar top Cyprus Back and sides flamenco guitar. 

I think the lower humidity affected the tone and the EJ25B seems to sound good on this guitar.

All pedals are powered from AliX. The pedal board is the Pedaltrain Metro 20.
